Privacy Policy

Effective September 14, 2026. This release-ready draft describes the current Equal Earth app design. It should be reviewed again before public store release if analytics, advertising, accounts, payments, or new data services are added.

What Equal Earth uses

Equal Earth may request device location to center maps, show coordinates, find nearby places, measure distance or area, calculate speed and altitude, create routes, and add a user-selected GPS stamp to a photo. Camera and photo-library access are used only when you open GPS Camera or choose to save an image.

Data sent to services

Searches, visible map areas, coordinates, nearby categories, routing requests, and satellite visualization settings may be sent to the map, geocoding, routing, or imagery services needed to return a result. These may include OpenStreetMap-based services, Esri basemaps, and the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem. Their own terms and privacy practices apply.

CDSE credentials

If you choose to connect your own Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem OAuth client, the Client ID and Client Secret are encrypted in this device’s secure storage. They are sent through the configured HTTPS Equal Earth processing endpoint for CDSE authentication and imagery processing. You can disconnect and remove them from the device at any time. No device is completely risk-free if it is compromised or rooted.

Local storage

The app may store preferences, map or satellite cache entries, daily visualization usage, saved places, selected units, and generated images on your device. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app may remove locally stored information. Images saved to your gallery remain subject to your device’s storage controls.

What this version does not include

The planned V1 app does not require an Equal Earth account and does not include advertising, AI analysis, or behavioral profiling. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the feature is released.
